Drive to Claviere, Italy

Today we set off from Provence in driving rain grateful that we weren't riding !! We drove the same route the pros raced today to Gap and then we continued on to Italy to stay in Claviere. Tomorrow the pros ride right past our hotel but we will probably be climbing Alp D'Huez and Galibier as it was postponed today due to weather. Apparently -1C on Alp D'Huez and snowing on Galibier.

This is what the weather looked like on today's race course. I'm sure it's beautiful in summer (a case of you should have been here last week).

After a few hours, however we stopped at quite a famous cross roads for refuelling of the bus and ourselves before heading to Briancon and on to Claviere.

That's around $750 and that's only half the tank fillled

We're all hoping the weather improves tomorrow and this is the sort of views the TV will be showing. Deep gorges and many hairpins with tomorrow's climb out of Briancon and past our hotel in Claviere.

Upon arriving at our hotel, first priority was lunch and what is Italy so well known for ?

and a quick walk around the shops, before watching the final 40 kms of the race - YEAH CADEL !!
Even a small ski vallage shop has pasta

and finished off with a coffee. You could say that the Italian Barrista's are somewhat of an improvement to the scene in Sydney !!
and the boys decided the weather had improved enough to go and climb some mountains
